Reduce time wasted before it’s waisted

“I don’t have time.” It’s the lamest excuse ever. Time is the most wasted thing in life. We are all guilty. Think of all the times throughout the day where you spend it doing things which aren’t productive or healthy. Having a cocktail, scrolling through Swiggy or Deliveroo looking at desserts, smoking, waiting for an auto to take you 1km, gossiping.

What if you replaced those moments wasted on things which had value and benefit to your health? 10 minutes of doing squats and push-ups is 10 minutes more than you did yesterday or the day before. 10 minutes a day adds up to almost 5 hours a month of exercise you would have never done. That is a productive win! You have got the time. You just need to take the first step towards using it more mindfully.

So why don’t you use the time you waste to make sure it doesn’t show up on your waist!

REWIRE28 has been designed to help you live a healthier lifestyle without cramping your daily schedule. Practicing daily ritual over time becomes as second nature as brushing your teeth.

Balancing the scales

How many time have I heard, “I don’t know how I got this way.” That is simply not the truth. So let’s start with being honest with yourself. Because no progress will ever be made unless you can be realistic to how you got to where you are. Once you can do that, you can move forward in the right direction.

Part of being honest with yourself is knowing your input and output. This is the simple equation to keeping the scales balanced with the body.

Too much food and not enough movement the scale is tipped. Too much movement and too little fuel your scale again is off balance. This applies to your mental wellness too.

If you are finding your scales off balance start from the beginning with logging your daily eating routine. Write down when, what and how much you eat for a week. Also track your daily movement. This includes any workouts you do, how long, what type and intensity it is. Also mark how many steps you are taking a day. (If you don’t have a fitness tracker you can get a pedometer or track from your smart phone.)

Once you do this, you will have a realistic picture of what your input and output is and know exactly what is off balance. Then like any scale take away a little and add a little to each side to gradually gain the balance. Anything drastic will never allow stability. Once you find the balance this way, it is easier to maintain it.

REWIRE28 is designed to help you live a healthier sustainable lifestyle. There are no fad diets. No extreme workout programs. These things simply do not work if you want to be able to maintain what your are doing throughout a lifetime.

Not all steps

You have got to get those 10,000 steps in because “they say” you should. Let’s not get into who ‘they’ are right now and focus more on the intention and intensity which you take those steps. Taking a strolling through the mall is not the same as a speedy power walk along the seafront to break a sweat even though both walks were each 5000 steps. So let’s be realistic about what your intensity is when you move.

Let’s address a couple simple points to always keep in mind.

Some steps are better than no steps at all.

Your body will adapt to every day regular movement. In exercise we call it a plateau. Example: If you walk every day with your friends and in the beginning you saw a difference with your body changing and becoming more fit that is normal. But after doing the exact same thing month after month, year after year, you stops seeing changes.

If you wish to get healthier and more fit than you are and already are walking, you MUST vary your intensity to have a change.

Follow your breath to create change. If you can walk and talk you are burning less calories than what you are if you are breathing heavy and can barely speak. Work between these two intensities a few minutes at a time to help your body from becoming too adapted to the movement that you no longer see progress with your body.

Or increase the amount of time, distance or steps you do.

It all depends on your goals. Knowing how your body responses and how frequently it adapts to movement is essential when it comes to reaching and maintaining your fitness goals. The more you know your body and are aware of how it changes and adapts, it will help you know when you need to mix things up or change what your are currently doing.

REWIRE28 is a wellness program designed to help you get in the habit of moving more and increase your body awareness.

Made to move

Our bodies were made to move! We often get hung up on the idea of needing to be flexible or strong, and forget that neither of these fitness components have any value if we don’t have mobility. This all begins at the joints. We have 360 joints in the body – they were designed to be used and moved.

When we stop moving and spend more time sitting these joints become less mobile and over time it begins to restrict your overall movement. If you get an injury, the initial reaction is to protect which results in stiffen and not move the closest joints to the injury. By not moving the joints this restricts circulation of fresh healing blood to the point of injury.

Again, over time this restricts and decreases the mobility in the area joints over time. (*In cases of actual joint injury, immobilization can be the first stage of treatment but will have the same result of stiffness and loss of mobility.)

One of the best things you can do for your body on a daily basis is to spend five to ten minutes a day (best in the mornings or before a workout) applying a joint mobility routine to your daily rituals. This means to spend time focusing on moving every joint in your body and working to increase the range of motion throughout the joints.

There are so many benefits to doing this such as: increasing circulation of blood throughout the body, warming up the body for strength training, helps eliminate stiffness in the body, increases your range of motion, helps prepare the tendons for flexibility work and so much more. Give it a try and see for yourself!

FIRST28 specifically teaches you a joint mobility routine for your MOVEMENT warm-up to help you gain these daily benefits by just moving all those joints.

Mind Blocked

I can’t. It’s not for me. It’s too hard. I have heard it all. Yet, we all meditate consciously or subconsciously every single day. It is in the lost moments of a thought or intense focus where nothing else exists. In either case, at that single moment in time you are in a meditative state.

It is not a matter of whether you can or can’t meditate, it is more the question of what type is right for you. There is something for everyone, just as there are different forms of exercises and workouts which suit different types of people. Take time to explore and see what works best for you.

It is easy to get frustrated with practicing stillness within your mind when we live in a world that trains our brains for constant stimulation. So be patient with the process. If you struggle with being within yourself for a minute, try taking the marathon training 10% approach. This is done by increase the distance your run by no more than 10% a week. A little bit goes a long way!

Research studies show that over a span of 56 days (2×28 day cycles) meditating 10 minutes a day you can increase the neuroplasticity of the brain. (What that means, is you have essentially increased your brain flexibility which has an endless amount of reflective health benefits by doing this: lower blood pressure, increase memory and focus, reduces negative emotions, helps regulate how your act and react to situations, helps manage stress and anxiety…and many more.) Isn’t it worth a shot?

NXT28 and TotalREWIRE introduce a very practical approach to meditation which anyone can do. NXT28 directs you to the practice of repetition with mantra meditations. Then in TotalREWIRE you explore the different types of ways to connect to the mind and body through guided meditations.

Our Stomach Isn’t Stupid

Our stomach isn’t stupid. So when it comes to questions such as: “What should I eat?” “How much should I eat?” “When should I eat?” …and so on. These are answers our body does a remarkable job at telling you. If only you would listen.

Eating healthy isn’t rocket science, it is intuitive. Your body knows. Craving are indications of either deficiencies or addictions. Stomach aches tell you when you have eaten something your body doesn’t want or have sensitivities towards. Hunger can tell you when you should eat, how often. Indigestion can indicate improper timing of eating or over indulgence in quantity. The list goes on and more!

But let’s be realistic, our stomach tells us everything we need to know about what we should be eating, what agrees with our body, how much we should take in and when. So rather than ignore your own internal meal regulation system, try tuning in and work with your body rather than against it. Maintaining your meals can really be that simple! The more you know about your body, the healthier you can live.

REWIRE28 has designed their foundation program to help you tune into your eating habits and improve your relationship with your food without putting you on a “diet”.

What’s in a word?

What’s in a word? The simple answer is: More than you can imagine. Every word gives off a vibration. That vibration not only goes through your body and becomes part of you when you say it. But it goes out into the world like ripples on a pond to everyone out there. Every word you say has direct impact of your very being and affects the world around you. So, what’s in a word? It can actually set tone of who You Are.

Imagine taking simple words and creating powerful sentences which can create a positive vibe within your body and the environment you live. Monks say mantras in monasteries. Naam Simran is practiced in the early hours of the mornings in gurdwaras. These acts of repeating positive words and phrases create a higher vibration level of peace and happiness in these places, as well as within the people who do it. The amazing thing about this is that we all have the power to do it!

We all have the ability to increase our vibrations simply by thinking and saying positive words. A mantra doesn’t have to be tied to religious words. It just needs to be words of good intent and meaning. Think of the impact we would all make in this world if every single one of us spent a few moments giving oneself a positive pep up and sending good vibes into the world for everyone. It could truly change us all…and for the better.

REWIRE28 helps you develop more positive thought patterns through the practice of creating daily mantras and developing mantras for your personal pep talks.
